The national curriculum for art and design aims to ensure that all pupils:
- produce creative work, exploring their ideas and recording their experiences
- become proficient in drawing, painting, sculpture and other art, craft and design techniques
- evaluate and analyse creative works using the language of art, craft and design
- know about great artists, craft makers and designers, and understand the historical and cultural development of their art forms.
Here at Chudleigh School we enjoy a varied and enriching Art curriculum. Our Art lessons often support our current Enquiry and students across the school look closely at the work of well-known artists to support their learning. Artists we have recently studied include Wassily Kandinsky, Giuseppe Arcimboldo, L.S. Lowry and Romero Britto.
We welcome the opportunity to work alongside some fantastic local artists and are lucky enough to have benefitted from several generous donations from The Helen Foundation, a locally based charity supporting the development of the Arts in our community. As a result, the children have recently enjoyed workshops in silk painting, mosaic making and creating art from re-cycled materials. The results were fantastic!
