Our main aim is to create a happy and caring school environment in which children can acquire the knowledge, skills and attitudes to help them to become happy any successful in adult life.
We are very proud of our school building which opened on November 25th 1991 at a capital cost of £1.6 million. It is undoubtedly a very fine school building and we have tried to ensure that the facilities and resources available to the children are equally impressive. The school occupies a very pleasant and open site with a southerly aspect overlooking open countryside and new housing developments.
It is adjacent to the town play park where school and community can share and enjoy a large play area and this is, in turn, adjacent to the Parish Church with which we have strong connections. Chudleigh School was the first Community County Primary School in Devon and money raised locally has provided additional facilities which include a magnificent community hall together with changing rooms and showers and a new community swimming pool, which opened in the Summer of 1997.
The school building includes 16 classrooms, library, large shared practical areas, a music room, kiln, administrative offices, extensive storage facilities, large playgrounds, a sports field, and a community room which is used by Chudleigh Pre-school and other organisations. There is a canteen which prepares hot school lunches daily.
The school grounds are landscaped and planted with a wide variety of trees and shrubs and we are currently constructing an environmental area to which all pupils will have access.
In this Church School we hope that its Christian foundation will be evident in a variety of ways.
We hope that the teaching and love of Jesus Christ will shape our values and relationships and provide a basis for the whole life of school.
We hope that as all the children of this school grow physically and mentally they will also grow socially and spiritually, so gaining a real respect for themselves, for each other and indeed for the exciting world – God’s world – in which we live.
