“Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.”

Here at Chudleigh we value the teaching of science and understand its importance in contributing to children’s understanding of the wider world.
From Foundation to the end of Key Stage 2, we ensure the children are taught the essential knowledge, methods, processes and broader uses of science. We aim to build upon and nurture children’s natural curiosity about the world by delivering our science teaching through varied and rich learning experiences.
Hands-on involvement and outdoor learning are highly motivating for most children and, alongside the use of high quality questioning, these are used to encourage children to discuss and explain their understanding, as well as making predictions and developing their own scientific enquiries.
In order to guarantee progress in scientific understanding, care is taken to ensure children are secure with key concepts, knowledge and language before moving on to tackle more demanding areas.
