The Helen Foundation

Just before half term, Year 3 welcomed artist Helen Plant into school. Helen ran art workshops with the children with the aim of creating some permanent art work to be displayed in the school hall. These beautiful pieces of art will be transformed into permanent acrylic boards and will then be used to display the points awarded to each Tree Team on a weekly basis.

This project was kindly funded by The Helen Foundation, a local charity that was launched in 2006 in memory of Helen Kirk. Helen was an actor, and believed strongly that the Arts could make a real difference to young people's lives. This charitable trust supports young people in Teignbridge to realise their aspirations and we are very grateful to The Helen Foundation for their continued support.

What is underneath our feet?

We all loved this Enquiry – from the trip to the caves at Kent’s Cavern to creating mountain ranges from cheese crackers!

Our end of Enquiry posters were created using our fantastic learning about rocks, volcanoes, earthquakes and fossils alongside our Literacy based learning based learning  about features of information texts.

We included headings and sub headings, diagrams and labels, photographs and captions, questions and fun facts.
